Experience of the Firm

Michael G. Boehm, MAI has over 20 years of real estate industry experience as a real estate appraiser and counselor and is the founder and president of SLVS. Prior to forming the firm, Mr. Boehm was affiliated with a San Francisco based appraisal firm where he headed their senior housing appraisal division. Mr. Boehm is a member of the Appraisal Institute and a state licensed certified general appraiser in California and Arizona. SLVS takes responsibility for obtaining the appropriate temporary appraisal licenses for appraisal assignments located in all other States.

Mr. Boehm has performed over 1,300 appraisal and consulting assignments involving senior housing properties located throughout the country. In 1988, Mr. Boehm was a co-author of Elderly Housing: A Guide To Appraisal, Market Analysis, Development and Financing which was published by the Appraisal Institute. This text is recognized as an authoritative standard that other appraisers and consultants follow. Mr. Boehm is a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the Assisted Living Facilities Association of America and the American Seniors Housing Association. Mr. Boehm has lectured on valuation issues involving senior housing properties.

Each year, SLVS conducts the Senior Housing Investment Survey , a comprehensive national survey of industry capitalization, discount and equity return rates as used or perceived to be used by leading industry principals and professionals.  All editions of the survey results are provided on this website.
